Social Sciences Computing Cluster (SSCC)

Northwestern's Social Sciences Computing Cluster
The SSCC provides an advanced computational capability,
a rich suite of statistical software applications, and a centrally-managed
data storage service — all to support the research activities of
Northwestern social scientists.
The SSCC computers were upgraded October 2-8, 2006.
See SSCC
Hardware Upgrade for more information.
Services available from the SSCC include the following:
-compute access to 36 AMD Opteron CPUs, each running at
2.8Ghz. The batch cluster can run up to 32 jobs simultaneously;
-an interactive Linux command-line work environment;
-a software suite consisting of many statistical applications.
See Statistical
Software;
-1Terabyte of disk for storage of datasets (which will be
expanded as needed).
Recurring funding for the SSCC has been provided by NU's
Office of the President, by the WCAS Dean, by the Kellogg Dean, and by
NU Information Technology.
Accounts on the SSCC are available at no charge to Northwestern
social sciences faculty researchers and to their graduate students.
An account application form for establishing accounts on
the SSCC is provided at the link below.
